EMC laboratories calibrate radiated emissions testing sites, instruments, and accessories at least once a year. Calibration procedures are complex and time consuming. However, calibration does not prevent equipment malfunctions mid-calibration such as broken receivers, broken cables, poor connections, bad antennas, etc. For example, as frequency increases, poor connections can cause significant measurement errors. Regular monitoring of several frequencies on the Comb Generator’s broadband radiated output can verify the entire setup quickly and effectively. Any potential problem in the test setup can be detected before it causes erroneous results. The CGO-5100B is powered by a rechargeable NimH battery pack.
